Snobeeler reacted to Northbound in Northbound's 2023 season
3-16 Day 30 Back to the Delta. The 355 trail was perfect except for one terrible section of plowed, sun dried sand and gravel that went on for too long. Not so long as having to stop to cool sleds but still too long. Nice lunch as usual at Auberge Eva. Where we were first introduced to by no other than Saguenay Bill. Thanks for everything Bill. Along the lake the snow was very thin. Around the frog to the Delta, trails are mostly good. Of course road crossings are mid March road crossings. Wheels around the Delta make life easy. We rolled in mid afternoon, and only sleds in the compound. After dark there were almost 30 between the compound and sleds out front.
I hope you've enjoyed my "wordy" read. And hopefully someone will be able to use something from my info. I know I've always gotten a lot of my info from you guys.
Enjoy your summer,
Jeff and Sandy

Snobeeler reacted to FCL in Final trip of season
I don’t post offen usually for help planning trips. I have been reading Quebec Rider forever and riding Quebec longer, since 1987 to be exact, and it’s hard to think of a trail or area I haven’t rode. This years final trip was to do the complete figure 8 of the Gaspe, which I have done many times. The weather was warm but overall conditions were good, a little snow starve around Carleton. For this trip my grandson, Hunter was able to go over college break with over crew, which at my age this was very special to me. My riding crew, Dennis, Chuck and Tommy all have known Hunter before and we had a great time. Chucks sled 900 turbo ski doo started acting up 30 miles before our stay at the Caribou hotel, but he was able to limp in with. So this is where the other special part of this trip gets me to post. At the Caribou we meet several Quebec rider members I have read over the years. First we met Linda sled girl and her husband Joel and have a visit and she sends a pic to our old friend Saguenay Bill who I haven’t seen now in a few years. Onto the restaurant after settling in and we met Iceman and NH Moose and Snohorse. These guys were very friendly and most helpful with our sled problem. Turns out to be exactly what NH moose though it might be, the sock filter in the fuel pump. Great visit with Ice and crew at dinner and breakfast then off to BRP dealer in Gaspe. Great service here folks, took Chucks sled right in and had the fuel tank off and pump out within 45 minutes replacing a nasty looking fuel sock and very dirty in line fuel filter as well. Probably got some bad fuel somewhere. Price was reasonable and the folks at EM ski doo Gaspe were top shelf. Then onto Murdochville for the night, but not before meeting Iceman and crew again on the trail, another meeting with them the next day on local 150 north of New Richmond. I have always had great responses to questions I have asked on Quebec rider in the past as I plan my next adventure, but I must say it was special finally meeting some of the folks that have helped me on the site in the past. Just when you think you have rode every trail along comes Icemans private trail the 150 which was perfect and that brings me and our crew to the end of another season. To all have a great summer and stay healthy and safe, Fred

Snobeeler reacted to lindasledgirl in Hotel Copper Poor Customer Service
In the past Jack was awesome. He was a great guy and we had a great time at Hotel Copper. Rooms were relatively clean, dated, simple and I always felt it was like staying at a rooming house. But definitely a fun place to come out of the snow.
Sadly, I had a similar experience this week. He was short and irritated. Asked me if I knew what was happening in Quebec! ?? You have to take the package $169 each. Salmon or chicken croquet. I said we would rather just pay the room and order from the menu. He said there is no menu. 😞
The table of 4 guys beside us asked if they could start with a salad, they would be happy to pay. Well it was the same salad as on the plate. Lettuce and dressing.
We ate, they basically shut the lights off and you feel like it’s time to go. I think it was jacks wife and daughter working.
Last year our room had no hot water ( top of stairs king bed) and we were in a hurry so I brushed my teeth and sucked it up. This year, same room and no hot water. He was mad at me that I asked for a different room. We were speaking with others on the trail they said same thing. They complained and he said wait…45 minutes no hot water.
Just a sad atmosphere. I would love to help support them but two years now. I am going to look for options.
it would help if he wasn’t chain smoking in his office. 😞
Would love to hear suggestions.

Access rights: zec Martin-Valin temporarily exempted
DENIS VILLENEUVE
The Daily
The litigation affecting snowmobilers using the trails on the territory of zec Martin-Valin is over.
Discussions between representatives of the MRC du Fjord-du-Saguenay and the Ministry of the Environment resolved the impasse. The zec has obtained the flexibility that allows it to be exempted from pricing and temporary registration for snowmobilers who are members of the Fédération des Clubs de motoneigistes du Québec (FCMQ).
Under the agreement, snowmobilers who hold their access card from the Federation will not have to register and pay traffic fees in the zec, provided they stay on the trails maintained by the federated clubs.

“Good news” expected Monday for snowmobilers on Monts Valin
March 11, 2023
Snowmobilers who travel off-trail and all people who travel through the zec reception station must register and pay their driving fees, otherwise they risk a fine.
During a press briefing held late Monday afternoon, the MNA for Chicoutimi, Andrée Laforest, said she was satisfied with the outcome of the dispute, which nevertheless constitutes a temporary measure allowing the continuation of tourist activities related to the snowmobiling for the rest of the winter. "We realize that a small decision can disturb tourism," she said.
As for the future, the MNA mentioned that discussions will have to take place between the FCMQ and the zecs, however, insisting on the fact that the MRC du Fjord-du-Saguenay is preparing to submit its tourism strategy and that it will take partnership to get it right. She recalled that the snowmobile industry represents spinoffs of $35 to $40 million.
Asked whether snowmobilers who have received statements of offense distributed by zec patrollers could be exonerated, Ms. Laforest mentioned that she was going to discuss with her colleagues in Quebec.
Under current regulations, the zec must ensure the control and protection of its territory by distributing statements of offense when there is omission to respect the regulations.
Zec Martin-Valin decided last year to diversify its activities during the cold season by opening certain lakes to ice fishing, increasing the accommodation offer and offering free parking areas.
Director General Marie-Josée Savard has indicated in a press release that she is ready to discuss with the partners in order to work towards the development of all forms of collaboration.

More than a little insulting this went on essentially all season. Those affected businesses must be livid over the Zec collecting probably no more than a few hundred dollars among people willing to pay it while their businesses were dampened nearly all season.

Been happy with the Hotel Nordic, nice to be able to park in the garage in the back, normal winter it gets REALLY cold up there.

To get the Chibougamau experience in its totality, staying downtown at the Hotel Chibigamau is a must. You and your friends will come away with great stories to tell your grand kids, and you will receive a decal proclaiming 'I survived a night in Chiboug'. A five star experience.
