43 MPH is like watching paint dry just shoot me. I would rather knit.

I just read MikeRider's post regarding radar on trail 85 on the rail bed.  It made me start thinking about the Provincial speed limit of 70 kmh (42 mph).
I understand the Police want to keep everyone safe.  I'm all for safety too but radar on the rail bed?  In town, busy areas where there are a number of road crossings, where there may be pedestrians that also use the trail, high traffic areas, etc.  These are places that an accident has the potential of hurting someone else.  I'm in favor of keeping the speed down in areas like this.
The way sleds have improved over the years as far as handling, starting and stopping is far superior to what we rode 20 or 30 years ago.  The way trails have been opened up so visibility is better, the signage is better and grooming is fantastic brings into question the practicality of an overall Provincial speed limit of 70 kmh.  Maybe the Provincial speed limit of 70 kmh should be revisited and reassessed.  Trails that are on rail beds, rivers, lakes and the such are much safer than the trails that are barely wide enough to allow two sleds to pass each other twisting thru the trees and yet many of these twisty trails aren't posted with a lower speed limit so their limit is the same as a rail bed.
The speed limit was determined many years ago when the Provincial trail system was in its infancy and had an entirely different look to it.  In yesteryear, the trails were narrow and twisty.  When you did have a straight away, it would be so bumpy you still couldn't go very fast.  The old sled suspensions also limited your speed because they didn't have the travel or sophistication that the new sleds have.  Back then, 60 mph was flying.  You were holding on so you wouldn't lose control.  Now a days, 60 mph on these super trails is just cruising along and not hardly feeling a bump.  Imagine what it would be like in your truck on the interstate with a speed limit of 45 mph because that is what the speed limit was on the secondary roads before the interstate system.
What do you think?  Please post if you would like.

Club Motoneige Mauricie and Club Compte Champlain say they will continue grooming if possible until the 31 of March. After that date it’s over as their rights of passage on private lands expire on March 31. So if you want to get a last run in near Shawinigan and want it groomed you got 2 weeks left near hear. Just thought you might want to know.

Believe it or not, a lot of folks who have never seen a moose in person do not know that they will run till death if followed by a sled. Hopefully this thread will educate a few. I am sure though that most if not all on this forum already know this.

I want to give an update on the advertising situation regarding the Universel Hotel to all QR members.  But again, I don't want this to divide us as members, but just want to keep all in the loop as to what has transpired.
First, I donated the money for the advertising of the hotel to QR,  feeling this might make it an easier decision for the hotel to get on board, and if the hotel was happy with the results they would become a yearly member.
Secondly, I told the QR administrator that should the hotel not sign up, the money I paid would turn into a donation to QuebecRider.
Third, I met with the VP of the hotel. She was very nice and seemed interested. Afterwards, I let the QR administrator know that he should contact the hotel VP as it would appear it might be she is interested and knows that an anonymous member has paid the first year of advertising for the hotel.
The last I have heard, the QR administrator was having problems with his e-mail and thus was not able to contact the hotel VP. I have heard nothing since,  but I assume he has been working on this issue and will eventually have some news, one way or the other.
    Thanks,
    mike

With our Adventure riding mentor , Team Maine’s , Early rider, getting ready for the 2000 mile Cain’s Quest Race in Labrador this week, we decided several months ago that we would return up the White Road and meet Rob at the check point in Lanse au clair.  At this point he will be 1335 miles into the race and has a 12 hour layover in Lanse.
We have a big crew of 9 making the run, including 3 QR members, 603, Trailblazer and yours truly.
Several of of us are leaving Forestville for Sept Isle this coming Thursday, meeting a few more in Sept Isle, than making stops in Havre St Pierre, Chevery and onto Lanse au Clair Labrador. Weather and mechanical issues permitting 😋
This is a trip similar to last year with the exception, that we will be returning back down the White Road after the rendezvous.
TB, 603 and I will update as our trip unfolds.
Here are some links to the Cain’s Quest Race, they have a great tracking system to allow those interested, to follow the racers progress.
    Happy Trails

I can't take it anymore. All you people talk about is how GREAT it is to be riding, I know I have already rode 1350 miles this year but IT'S NOT ENOUGH. And to top it off it's 75 degrees here in North Carolina. How can someone dream about riding their new snowmobile when its 75????? Then to top it off I have to come in to the office and read about what a great time everyone is having. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. So........ with that said I guess I'm going to just have to go back in March to see just what the hype is all about.
HAPPY TRAILS EVERYONE AND MOST OF ALL BE SAFE!!!!  SEE YOU IN MARCH!!!!!!

That's a hump in the most ideal conditions with very experienced riders who are very familiar with trails.  My mind is telling me more like 250-270 as we just made that run.

If it's your first time in QC I would break it up with a night at the Delta.

Hotel du Glace isn't on site anymore. It's over by Valcartier resort. But 4 Points will shuttle you there. About 15 minutes if I recall correctly.
And 4 Points has a great outdoor pool. Just walk thru the spa.
Four of us will be there this Monday night. After taking in the Valcourt Grand Prix Sunday/tomorrow.
