Andyman
Just saw this on FB. Andy If all the stars align correctly, snowmobile enthusiasts can count on a new snowmobile trail between Chibougamau and Monts Valin, north of Lac-Saint-Jean. The project is led by the MRC Maria-Chapdelaine, together with several stakeholders. The snowmobile clubs and ATV riders will participate even as several other instances. Located north of the 49th parallel, 236 km trail will not be subject to the process of rights of way. Its location, it will be available longer, and even more quickly, as soon as the first snow will fall. "We want this path is an integrating link, so we can consolidate what we have on the one hand and discover our beautiful area to outsiders," said the Director General of the Regional Park of the Great -Rivières in which the project falls, Dominique Gobeil. "We want to achieve in collaboration with all the affected areas. This path will be reserved exclusively for ATV enthusiasts in summer and winter snowmobilers, "he added. WINNING CONDITIONS MRC Maria-Chapdelaine is truly the land of excess, as like to say people in the community. With its 38 000 square kilometers and 28,000 miles of forest roads, there is something fun. "We truly believe that we have the right conditions to create that path, says Gobeil. We have very good snow conditions very early and very late. We are able to make a very nice trail quality since we are in the forest paths mostly. We also have a significant forest areas which prevent the path to deteriorate rapidly in mild weather. Our project will be on public land, thus ensuring the sustainability of this unique trail trace. " "The snowmobilers and ATV riders will be able to cross the great rivers of the region. Mistassini and Péribonka rivers are fine examples. Really, what we want is to showcase our region and tourists to discover, not only from outside but also from Quebec, "says Gobeil. A COLLABORATIVE WORK For this path into being, it is essential that all the environment concerned with his presence a huge part in the consultation process. "We are working together around the same table all affected people, including many vacationers who live in the forests of the hinterland, that our project be unanimous. It must be an integrator link in a concerted regional development project, "analyzed the CEO. Currently, the activities related to the forest are the main economic activity in the territory of the RCM of Maria-Chapdelaine. By creating this path, we want to diversify the use of the environment and create new economic bonanza with what nature offers both summer and winter. A door to the Nord-du-Québec The promoters of Valin Mountains trail-Chibougamau believe this new link could provide access to the Nord-du-Québec the followers of great adventures. They mention, among other territories such as James Bay, a magical place where snowmobiling is not comparable in relation to what is happening in the south. For doing so, as a snowmobiler, I can assure you it is an experience. Roll in the great outdoors, see caribou cross the vast frozen reservoirs, there something for the more adventurous. Building Bridges Certainly the most expensive component of the project is undoubtedly the construction of three bridges that the trail will have to borrow to span large rivers. If the small power plant project at the 11th fall of the Mistassini River is realized among the compensatory amounts to be granted, there will be money to build the necessary bridge to the trail. It would remain as two finance. Volunteers Throughout this project, there is a key element that must be taken into account, and that is the involvement of volunteers snowmobile clubs, who are the real experts to build and maintain the trail. The leaders of the Maria-Chapdelaine RCM are well aware. That is why they absolutely want the clubs are an integral part of the decision process leading to the birth of this new relationship will serve to enhance the natural forces of the territory. Snobeeler
That would make going to Chibougamau a nice 2 day round trip from LSJ via different trails. Now its up 1 way and same way back unless you go all the way to Abitibi region. Edited March 4, 2015 by Snobeeler

revct1
I hope this comes to fruition. A new trail in the cold north would be wonderful. There are 1,000's of km of logging trails and access roads up there. Lets make some good use of them. Yea! Jack & Sandi

markusvt
One from Chapais to a Y. One way to Obedjiwan and the other to Pourvoirie-Martin outside of Clova, and then onto Bal Buzzard. The other a continuation of local 714 out of La Dore to Barrage Gouin. Trailblazer
The one up to Chapais I was told many years ago from an Indian at Obedjewan it was open to off trail sledding and that the locals was using it to get up to Chibougamau, at that time he suggested a guide, not sure if he was trying to promote business but really.... Who better than a local to show you local off trail riding, worth the hire. Let's keep our fingers crossed these trails would be a good addition to the network. doo4adoo
I can only speculate that it will be late summer before more is heard. Given how quiet the site's been lately I think every one is out boating & biking.
