doonali got a reaction from Teet F8SP in First run 2017
Left Maniwaki at 1:30 on Wed. 19th hit devils mountain and on to Mekoos for the night.
Thur. up 53 to 33- 13 to 83 trails freshly groomed and fast. Saw five different Lynx on 53 pretty amazing! Lunch in Parent and onward across 83. Just before Windigos turn off we saw two moose.. What a day! Windigo for the night.
Fri. 83 to Relais 22 faaaast! fuel and head down 73 -355 -360 -345 to Le Cabanon for the night. Overall trails held up good. Esp. 83-360. LaTuque was wet with water holes.
Sat. 63 groomed to perfection after SMDS through the reserve. Half way through my buddy noticed a bearing race/ring on his foot board.. not good.. Inspection found it to be the jack shaft bearing.. 2017 Pro S Switchback.Decided to try to ride it out hopefully making it out to the west side at Red River a lot closer to our rig than heading back to SMDS luckily he made it to the RR grade and finally she let go shearing the jackshaft completely off!! Dropped a pin and left the sled and onward to Maniwaki on a mushy 53-local-324-63. 1.5 hr trip back up to retrieve sled and back in town by 7:30. Could have let go in a lot worse places.

Thursday and Friday we rode a combined 250 miles.  Thursday werode up to KM 31 and then across 267 back to 93 to 328 to 134.  Lot of snow on trails which made steering very difficult for me with my chest as sore as it is.  Friday morning I had an interview with local TV station so we never left til after 10AM.  Had lunch at Relais du Lac, then onto Alma and back to the Delta.  Snow was in the air all day, very windy, trails were great.

doonali got a reaction from mccaffrey in 1200 coil wire.
I've heard of several 1200's both XR and XS haven broken coil wires mainly on the center coil. Upon inspection of my XS I noticed the only difference between the three is that the center coil doesn't have the wires zip tied to the plug. I reorganized the wires giving a little extra slack and zip tied all three with heavier zip ties. The plugs have a lip on the bottom so the zip ties cannot work off of the plug. Maybe this will help or cure the issue IDK . Possibly without the zip tie the center was seeing more vibration causing the issue.

Ok Hillary, I'll get my fact checkers going.
Bottom line is if they block any trailsit will significantly affect those of us who make province wide saddlebag trips. I'm not one to just go ride the same trail back and forth even if its the only one open. Imagine all the people who will be doing just that if they close trails through agricultural land. Stupid nonsense that we need to go through this every other year it seems. Farmers want their cake fine...then give it to them, and they sign agreeing to permanent passage through land. If no then give them nothing and let them suffer the financial consequences along with their fellow neighbors who will all be affected by no sleds through town. When they come back begging to negotiate then they sign for a permanent trail system or they can go kick rocks.

First of all I'd like to thank everyone for not passing judgment before I got to post the facts.  Everybody makes mistakes, including Tom.  He missed a Chevron sign himself and blew off the trail 3 days after this incident.  It happens.  The decision was made to turn around; I would never, ever go on a recon mission 30 seconds after the decision was made by both of us to turn around.  Tom's sled was never buried.  I was leading with a 121 track.  He should have been leading with his 144, but that's my opinion.  My snowmobile will not move in 4' - 6' of powder as Tom said the Scandic did.  From where I went off trail is 30 feet, not 30 yards as Tom stated that he would have to walk.  Also, by looking at the picture, anyone can tell that it's not a 35 - 40 percent grade. Plus you can see that it's about 300 feet not 250 - 300 yards as Tom stated.  If he would have walked that 30 feet of powder, he would have saw me, but that didn't happen.  I understand that Tom has asthma and the best thing for him to do is turn tail and run for help, which he did and I am grateful.  I just wanted to state the facts and correct the inaccuracies of this thread and do a followup on my 2-1/2 hr. experience waiting for help.

    Day 5:  Tuesday Jan 17th
There are "good" days of Snowmobiling & there are "great" days of Snowmobiling.  Today was an "EPIC" day of Snowmobiling!  Definitely a Hall of Fame day from beginning to end!
Woke up at Motel Senabi in Senneterre to 12*F.   I always try to get one or two days in each of my trips where I head out on the days ride 1-2 hours before sunrise.   There is nothing like watching a new day develop from darkness to daytime while riding my snowmobile.  We pulled out at 6:45am under a clear, star lit sky.  Once we crossed the river next to the hotel we made first tracks on a perfectly groomed ribbon.  I knew at that moment today was going to be special.  Took 93N towards LSQ and witnessed a spectacular dawn of a new day.  Truly breathtaking & calming.  First tracks all the way to LSQ!  Took gas & continued on 93N getting gas again in Desmaraisville, Chapais, Relais Lac Cache, Scierie 54 & La Dore.  Trails were ridiculously good & fast.  Tons of snow up here.  There wasn't a cloud in the sky all day.  No wind!  We did not pass a single sled the entire day in either direction!  Perfect trails were there for only us to enjoy.  You can't make this stuff up.  Timing, luck, karma, call it what you will.  We were blessed for sure!    Arrived at 6:45pm at Hotel du Jardin in Saint-Felicien.

Good to see you last night Don.  We got out for a quick 215 mile ride today. We did the loop we talked about. Up the river to Mattawin for a soup.  Then 360 west to 245 to M20 back to 360 back to Shawinigan.  Trails were incredible.  Very little traffic.  River was better than I expected too.
