Day 6 Saturday Cold this.morning. Not sure what was the temperature but a cold start. Cold makes white asphalt. I happen to admire white asphalt quite a bit and we saw lots of it Exception being the local trail from La Dore to TQ83. But the local orange was still ok. Just not perfect. Joined up with the TQ83 and at first was not liking it. Quickly changed at intersection to local trail south. Fast run down as the top of the TQ83 they are grooming the road as the trail for a god part of it and it’s fantastic. Gas and Late lunch after the rush at Relais 22. Out of there we got places to be. More sleds out today, but duh? It’s the weekend. Even so, we only caught uo to 2 sleds we easily got by. Only the second pair we had to deal with in front of us in 6 days. Sweet. Quick burn to Windigo and wrapped up a stellar day with a stellar night reminiscing and breaking bread with our brothers Team Vermont. Always great fo be at Windigo with Martine Stephanie and Daniel….even better on a Saturday night……and even better with the plan coming together to meet up. Lots to catch up on and that we did. Sure wish we could do this so much more often. Great times with Great people.11 points

Day 6, last day left Valga and doubled back south to 5. When we get to 35 we take that, some of the trails around Rimouski are showing red again and since we took 5 on the way out we will try and stay more inland. Stay on 35 to the 546 cutoff and take that, it’s in really nice shape. Local traffic is starting to pick up now but everyone is acting nicely. We take the 571 when we hit it then the 544 into St. Cyprien and have a good lunch at the St. Cyp. Continue on the 544 to the Orange local, think it is 44 but not positive and take that to 85. 85 still in good shape and covered well but icy. After the Adventiers clubhouse things get pretty bad. Mostly dirt and gravel with a little snow here and there to the 526. The 526 is no better and pretty much no snow the last 2 or 3 miles into the Universal. We had a great trip, the clubs are all out doing their best and trails are mostly good. All towns are bone dry getting in and out, even Murdochville is dry blacktop at the gas station. Many areas WILL NOT survive the warm up and rain this week. It will take a good dump of snow after Wednesday to open it all back up. 142 miles for the day 1050 for the week10 points

Day 4: 298 total miles epic day! More amazing riding cold nights and days really make excellent trails! 90% of the trails today were 9.5/10 just simply awesome! Today ride took us from Amos over to Seneterre then up to Quévillon the the trail between the two places which is TQ93 might be one of the best stretches of trail I’ve ever ridden in Quebec! After lunch in Quévillon back down 93 to Seneterre then continuing south to Lac Simon for fuel. After that we did a loop north of Val’dor to take us back into Amos!10 points -

Day 5: gonna end the trip with 2 short days instead of 1 big one. Today we rode from PALC to Valga. Took 5 all the way to Albertville. Trails pretty thin near the towns. Should have took the orange trail to avoid Causapscal. Also really thin around St. Marguerite and Albertville. Continued on 5 to 587 to St. Irene, much better here. Had lunch at the Ski Hill then went up and checked out the lookout tower up near the Radar. Looks like winter up there but not like a normal one. Continued through the mountains on 587 to 579 and into Valga for the night. Early day, a little too early really 😂😂 150 miles for the day.7 points

Saturday, heading to Windigo from Barrage Gouin to meet up with some awesome friends ! Plan is to cross country it the whole way (ended up using about a mile of marked trails in a 192 mile day ) Awesome mission . Super fun evening meeting up with Team iceman and the balance of Team Vermont . Of course the host here at Windigo top notch as usual 😁 . http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/20240224_173342.thumb.jpg.9d6b0dc9c704610db89d1162ed140e4b.jpg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/Screenshot_20240224_170914_Gallery.thumb.jpg.539579ba53249384e18a191018424cb1.jpg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/Screenshot_20240224_160233_Messenger.thumb.jpg.38c9464f951a18d9442fcc12d99dfc0e.jpg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/Screenshot_20240224_160019_Gallery.thumb.jpg.b570e1308d4e5f26877e3e2f5ccf6a56.jpg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/Screenshot_20240224_155949_Gallery.thumb.jpg.e793c15706bb73493a2f1edb9a40bb25.jpg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/Screenshot_20240224_155935_Gallery.thumb.jpg.c001432dc788c78860d5bdfd70736b61.jpg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/Screenshot_20240224_155852_Messenger.thumb.jpg.395f0dd6ada3317f7b390a9f910d402b.jpg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/Screenshot_20240224_155742_Messenger.thumb.jpg.d7bf2a68d227d17ee1863f7226cf25e3.jpg5 points

Day 5 215 total miles. A bit of a snowy day today so not as many pictures they don’t look as pretty haha. Tons of sleds today guess everybody is out anticipating, perhaps the end of the riding season unfortunately. Since all the traffic trails were a bit more bumpier than normal, but still not bad at all. Decided to head down to Rapide 7 so left amos south to Rivière-Héva then to Malartic then continued down the 309 to Rapide 7. Back up 309 then into Val’dor and then snaked our way back to Amos the long way!4 points -

Day 5 Friday Woke at Pouvoirie La Dore. I like it here. Snowing again. Not super cold as my gatorade aint frozen on porch. It’s cold thought This will hold me over until getting some coffee. Boys are stirring around looking like the warm has lost the battle this go round. Wind picking up still snowing on and off. Enjoyed talking for a long time with Stephane last night. Quite interesting as I learned alot we all did asking hunting and fishing questions trying to get an understanding on how they do it all year. Great place and super hosts. Go and stay they have one big chalet with four bedrooms So 8 singje beds max, only chalet insulated for clients thus winter. Next year probably 1 more. But this will remain an intimate place. More personal to stay here. For lunch they have been doing well. Many clients. They make their living May to November. Like i said before there is just something about this place. Stephane met us after a great breakfast and we took a ride out and up the lake and back. He took us out the back over the bridge and showed us the way to join up with the local orange trail branche ouest. Interesting. But not as fast as the TQ93. He showed us another nine mile loop around the lake by the lodge. This has Team VT written all over it as he said no problem go and explore, their are trails everywhere. We had to say goodbye for now and bailed out the backdoor to La Dore. Still snowing on and off temps already noticeably colder, wind is biting. TQ93 to Gas n go La Dore. Trail mint. Been 95% all week. Very little traffic. This being the “Tour to nowhere” we got nowhere to go to. All day to do it. Now those of you that pay attention know what is next……if you guessed trail bingo = winning. 👍 Stayed in the sweet spot. All around above lake. St Felicien to Dolbeau. To 373 then back across 373 searching for red sticks with wind howling in the fields. One of those days you think about where to stop for a break and finding somewhere tucked in the trees to block that wind. Temperature has plummeted and with wind not great for the hands being out of the gloves too long. Only real rough spot few KM between middle orange trail and TQ93 up near Lac a Jim. Everything else very nice. Likey likey. Bingo card full it’s time for early happy hour. Into Girardville. Happy campers.2 points

What's one to do when you desire Quebec pub grub? Jump on the sled and get it. Thirty-eight miles bump-free from camp on the local Pittsburg USA trail system to the Chartieville QC Customs house. Three of us produced documents & after exchanging pleasantries with a very courteous and joyful customs officer, we traveled an additional twenty-eight miles to La Patrie via 65 & 525. We passed the local groomer inbound & outbound, laying the flat trails with the small amount of snow he had to work with. Upon arrival, we had a great lunch in the very crowded Resto-Bar La Patrie. Surprisingly, the bar & dining room were packed for a Thursday afternoon with tradespeople & snowmobilers. The Canadian trails were mint; however, sections in the fields, thankfully short in length, were ugly as they had no snow or were snirt & slush. On our return in Chartieveille, we encountered a sick groundhog that refused to vacate the trail. Minimal snow is forecasted locally for the next 24 hours. Failure to get a few inches of new snow and those short stretches of no snow & or muddy slush I described will only be lengthier, deeper, and muddier as the sun was high, bright & warm today. Stay safe. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_ 2024_02/5BE825AB-C159-4B78-BB0D-706991706481_1_105_c.thumb.jpeg.cd3061fdf6fdb3d584b1f408b0019900.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/0421365F-7BF5-4D89-8EB3-6B483DDEB544_1_105_c.thumb.jpeg.13b4c9b9b583773e53f1786f533ff867.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/3666EF67-AE76-41E2-B4D1-FC2A273A2C86_1_105_c.thumb.jpeg.f4b8ad0927ba3d221f2c1e81fac398f8.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/F4E4A43B-6401-4A96-8D6B-EA393354FFDF_1_105_c.thumb.jpeg.9eab277864329782377757629137d1ac.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/IMG_5319.jpg.03b620b05d31cd827bfc7ad704969f34.jpg1 point

Decided Friday afternoon to roll the dice and head to the Gaspe. 2 hours from our launch point of RDL. Will make tracks tomorrow and see what is out there. Crappy year gonna take the gamble. As much as we hate to waste time on the ferry, if need be we can cross to the North Shore or head down to Moose Valley. Time will tell1 point

Hi Mike. Glad to hear the trip wasn't a washout. The FCMQ map showed some riding where you found it but limited or closed west of RDL. What a short season. Jack & Sandi1 point -
Hard to say. From that club south has been great but haven't ridden it for a couple days. With the warm temps the past couple days, rain tonight and a flash freeze, it may be icy.1 point

Day3: 254 total miles. The temperature dropped like a rock last night making for excellent trails all day lost count of all the groomers I passed trails are on tip top shape here! Was a very cold day high of only 3 or so but that makes for the best conditions! Todays ride took us south of Amos to Malartic to top off fuel then over to Rouyn then up to La Sarre then back over to Amos to complete the loop all trails were excellent! Anyone who’s not up here is missing out big time. Some pictures from the day enjoy! http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/342CE828-20DB-44DC-8BB6-E1AEA67866D1.thumb.jpeg.b655410460dfbff8d0ecb7102aa80225.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/BADAC173-0A03-4A55-806A-1B4A6F6E3875.thumb.jpeg.f4e8846387ee4493e3ee17d94dbd5b44.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/7E8D9641-493E-47FB-A23E-677258241E92.thumb.jpeg.95eb74e06d6ce07e40f8cec11f315845.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/E5EDE73B-BCB5-4C72-BD8E-387510037DF2.thumb.jpeg.b611f7a2aaa2ea89dcaf80d04fc8d379.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/4985B635-9620-451B-83E8-E65ADC49DDA4.thumb.jpeg.30357b632d5100aeee260084c285ba90.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/A97CEC8B-F659-4F24-8F0B-9546B1A1D98B.thumb.jpeg.7d232319dc530914f019e66ad3d5d9e6.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_02/2536D875-FA2E-4F05-A843-596E49EF96A8.thumb.jpeg.fc2c5e2c8abdd2bbfe1195f7275990b7.jpeg1 point -
Left for Maine late morning. No percipiitation all the way home but warm everywhere.. Can only guess it will really be tough getting out of RDL. Still forecasting rain at RDL tonight and 2 cm of snow. Good trails may flash freeze and be icy, just not sure. Best to those that make the trip. mike1 point

Getting across the border is not a heavy lift, and it is always an enjoyable visit. The mileage is usually half what I reported, but we must run the outside due to many temporary closures in the local system due to active logging. A few inches of snow fell here in Pittsburg, NH, overnight. Someone venturing across the border today would have far better tracks than yesterday. In my first post, I should have noted that the FCMQ grooming pattern incorrectly reflected the area trails hadn't been groomed in days. This morning, despite us witnessing the groomer in action, it still reflects gray. Before our initial departure, a Facebook posting by Club de motoneigistes des Monts Appalaches advertised the the trails were recently groomed to & from the customs house, so we chose to see who was correct. FB was the winner.1 point

Day 4, Left Pabos, took 5 West and trails are still pretty nice. Not great snow depth but the clubs have done a great job with what they have. Trails were all in pretty good shape until New Richmond. Really thin there and some bare corners but not terrible. Same for Carleton, mostly smooth but thin. The thinnest sections and most bare spots were around Nouvelle. Definitely spring conditions there. The snow started getting better and less bare spots and snirt as we headed West. In PALC tonight.1 point

It’s hard to say they have a lot of snow here, but warm temps and rain will do a lot of damage. The weather for the next 10 days looks absolutely horrible thinking this season is close to being over in most areas of Quebec.0 points
