slomo reacted to Fuse6 in Rimouski Hotel Suggestion?
We start from from Mon Joli Hotel in Mont Joli.
Reason being you leave your truck keys with them. If you break down they have a guy that will come rescue you. Had two trips where a machine in the group broke down. Real life saver when your 100’s of km from your truck

slomo reacted to smclelan in First Gaspesie Tour
Came up for a quick three day tour. Conditions are decent and the snow today is helping quite a bit.
Started in Pointe a la Croix from the Interprovincial, they have built new sled garages, forgot to take a picture, I will when we get back to the truck. Ran up to Amqui the first afternoon, stayed at the Select.http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2023_01/20230112_165358.jpg.7f8d09ff07d349ed86fe8100990501aa.jpg Breakfast at Ste Adeleme, stopped at St Paulin which was closed. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2023_01/20230113_111609.jpg.6354a7b54f2d304a5c9e8bb1e8645b85.jpghttp://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2023_01/20230113_121957.jpg.38a598af6f45e5640df89d7fb4cc9bc9.jpg Then stopped at Grande Nature for a break. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2023_01/20230113_133617.jpg.fb3b4e01c48ddab1b6b07a3da2499a8f.jpgHeaded out without a plan, stopped mid day and called the Copper, but restaurant is closed till Jan 20, so scratch that. Ended up at the Hotel Cie in SADM.http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2023_01/20230113_142732.jpg.e3aaa459f88e26e18ba848985fc5d744.jpg
The forecast was for 40cm, so far I would say we have got 20. Will try to update a bit more tomorrow. It is great to be riding again.

My trip last year - western Newfoundland - conditions look better this year and earlier. Would not book anything until end of January early February to be safe though. Four minutes long, best part is last 2 minutes, sun was out.

slomo got a reaction from Spanky in Pembroke in Trail Permit Insurance Reimbursement Question
This is what that section should look like in terms of which drop down box to select and the other numbers. Worked for me twice - insurance rebates arrived before the trail passes:

7 am - Christmas Day 2018. Pleasant enough place - food a bit pricey, but Lionel was a good host particularly to out of province guy with little French. Can't miss it on the highway on your drive to St. Michelle des Saints.

Have a look at this place - nice chalets and activities.
https://www.auchaletenboisrond.com/en/
Just an aside - you are aware that the auberge at lac taureau and the condos at lac taureau are booked on two separate web sites? Maybe a condo is available (if you didn't look there) They also have some mini home like buildings just off the main site, but right next to the trails and facilities.
https://condoslactaureau.com/home/
Did a quick check - condos available for your time, but it's gonna cost ya.

Try the Rodeway Inn just north of Amos. Direct access to trails, gas next door, free early breakfast, lots of parking, small swimming pool. There is also news about the trail over the Herricana River being closed by a landowner and might affect access to the two hotels previously mentioned here. BTW thanks to snomaster 2112 for posting about this place when it was just opening - been there twice since, a nice find.

Happy to help. The parking kind of sucks so find a good spot for your rig and don't plan on moving it. My spouse really enjoyed the massage options they have there. If at some point you want to return, Ontario school March break, which is usually after Quebec March break, is a time when some deals can be had usually by phoning the office direct to book.

slomo reacted to iceman in Convoy to Ottawa
Sad times when peaceful protesters are descended on by those sworn to protect their rights. So much for the charter of rights and freedom.
You won’t see it on the news but a mounted police on a horse trampled a woman waving a white flag. Horse stepped on her head and she died.
I have seen the video.
Always been a strong supporter of Police but not feeling the same today.

Definitely not reported on any media up here.
How is this allowed to happen? I really do not understand how people can be ok with having their fellow Canadians stomped to death and physically assaulted by police for expressing their rights to peacefully protest.
All because it does not fit with the dictators narrative.
Wake up people you could be the next at the hands of the gestapo.

Police report no one killed by horse. Not sure that is believable.

slomo reacted to mikerider in Saddle Bagging Maine 2022
Some of you have contacted me about saddle bagging northern Maine this coming winter, starting in Millinocket and hitting Aroostook County. This would be my pick of riding also.
I have been in contact with the hotel I stayed at last season. The owner is fine with you leaving your rig in his lot for the week after your first night stay. He is also making available to QR's a couple rooms to use if you need a larger place for your group to eat your take out food or have (BYOB) happy hour together, ie in his unused bar or breakfast room. I believe he will also be selling hi test ethenol gas to his hotel guests. Send me a message if you need any details or have any interest or need info on other places and most importantly, where to eat.
The snowmobile club house also has a large parking lot across the street from the club that is probably fine for long term parking , located in a rural area outside of town.
Hope to maybe see some of you this coming season. I hope to be in the area often.

slomo reacted to towing in The season's is starting in St-Zenon
The Cabanon dozers (club du Royaume) have started grooming today. From what the lady say in the facebook video, they start creating a trail loop in the Mastigouche reserve (trail#23) that will pass near koubec to give a total 150km loop. From what I Know they don't have tons of snow but the last drop end up with pretty compact stuff excellent for trail base.

slomo reacted to towing in 2021-22 season just ahead!
We won't ride this weekend but things slowly shaping up. The last 3 weeks+ had been colder than the average and the next 2 weeks forecast look good (around -15Cnight /-8Cday in st-Zenon area)
We have a bit of snow/ice to the ground home, St-Zenon had something like 5-6" of powder(last weekend).
There is a storm on the way, a 6" of snow forecast Sunday but some rain on Monday so we have to wait and see but it is plausible to be able to ride mid. december if mother nature cooperate...
So it is looking way better than last season, I keep you inform how it goes...

slomo reacted to RoadRunner in Ahhh...Return to Mont Valin
Its been to long!! How can one be deprived of the Monts for an entire season? Well thats the way its been thru all this. Today that changed, the border crossing ....after following " their process " was uneventful, kind of like normal years! The drive up after the border was normal, snow over the highlands, a little snow in the Sag valley, and good early snow in the Monts. The snow conditions in the immediate area of KM 31 are a solid 4/6" hard base capped with 10/14" of powder. Now that doesn't groom out to much but its a great start and for our mostly woods road riding, we will be fine!
A quick 20 miles this afternoon, more over the next week plus!
Think snow, and start planning a trip to Quebec, hoefully the border stays open🤞
