  1. Hi Jack and Sandi,

Jack, wishing you well  and hope you are back to riding shape soon. At our age, riding is just a way of earning the late afternoon happy hour.    Hope to see you both at RDL.

I can't stress enough when buying vehicles, appliances etc.   A membership to Consumer Reports on'line is your best friend and can help make a wise decision on an expensive purchase.

  2. EastMark's  thinking is right on.  I am along the same lines. Follow the food trail around Quebec.  A scenic mountain sight can't compare to a bowl of hot Poutine on the table encompassing all your senses of pleasure.  Ten years later you won't even remember where that scenic mountain was, but eat Quebec food and you'll remember the where, the when, and who you were with.

Oh, and don't forget to try the crepes!!!

  3. Thanks everyone.  Got my hot rod, probably won't drive any faster than before, but I will feel and look younger on this new sled.  And the excitement index for this coming winter is through the roof.  Reading DooTalk, never heard of the 600R engine going down.  Shop foreman at my dealer says they haven't had one 600R go down yet in the several years they have been available.

Steve, I really wanted a Polaris but they are pricier. I worry Polaris dealers are so backed up on recalls that if I had a problem the sled may stay too long in the shop waiting for it to get worked on. The Matryx is still the best sled I have ever driven.

And Eastmark. Tell Lisa she can try my new sled if I can try her new Cat Turbo!!!

I thought my new sled would attract all all the women. But after seeing Mark's new Lynx, I will have to settle being his wing man.

  4. Over the years I have seen RDL post good trails by X-Mas a couple times.  Watch for grooming reports and the club reports of the area that report trails by red, yellow and green.

The new bar looks nice, loved the coziness of the old bar for sure..  Looking at the picture, the new bar almost looks like its at the room where the buffet used to be, but not sure.

Hopefully Mark, you will be retired next year and will be at RDL more often.

  5. I'll offer a completely different second option;

Drive to St. George/Beauceville area (just above Jackman, Maine area) and save yourself hours of driving verses the Delta.

If you can arrive early enough to this area, on day 1 ride to Riviere du Loup and stay at the Universel or Levesque Hotels. Riding east, stay on the southern trails that are near the Maine border and then pop up to Riviere du Loup.

Day 2:   Ride southeast via St. Cyprien,  Squatek, into New Brunswick to Moose Valley and across to New Brunswick and back into Quebec to Amqui for the night.

Day 3:  Ride north to Rimuski and  then west and  stay another night in Riviere du Loup (using the trails near the St. Lawrence River).

Day 4: Head west  to Montmagny staying near the St. Lawrence, then drop south to St. George.

This route takes you by numerous club houses, first class hotels, sled dealers, historic downtown Riviere du Lou and its numerous bars and restaurants.

Each day is about 200 miles although I am not positive about mileage on day 2.

For attractions you will ride through the mountains with the windmills, ghost trees, the absolutely stunning Moose Valley, a large mountain to ride up below Montmagny,  the historic island out in the river off Riviere du loup and many more places others can suggest.
