That big bird appears to be an owl.

pretty cool. Looks like the snow is getting deeper by the mooses legs! It'll be great when all you can see is there ears!

hi jackstraw !!!

looks like i had a memory blank , i knew that word...owl !!! if you look  closely on one of the pics with groomer...can see feather on the trail....it was partridge...owl was there on the right !!!bottom of long hill ...ste marguerite !!!

on the other post ,last pic with drag ...mom and calf are on top of hill!!! waited about 10 mins..they were nt moving ...so , i moved machine about 50 '...waited another few mins and they started to come down !!!

the new clearcut i was talking about is 400 ' behind drag !!

back in the late 80's or early 90' ...there was a pic of a bunch of moose at the faribault camp, snow was very deep...up to air filter  !!!

Your trails are really shaping JG, great job.

Partridge feather is really tough to see, still looking.

I think the feather your looking for is the pile of feathers on the 5th pic from the bottom, Looks like it got hit by a sled?

Looks like it was a Grouse, also known as natures grenades. These little birds have been know to explode during the winter, due to a build up of digestive gases and the constant shivering. Many a hunter/trapper have lost a finger or two trying to grab one of these little guys, and is the origin of the phrase "Giving them the Bird".

Very informative, I didn't know about that.

No, I just sometimes think of things that sound sooooo impossible that maybe they could be real. Nothing intentional toward anyone.
