Its the cdn government that would close the border on you. You will always be allowed to cross to go home. I highly doubt we're going down this road again. Buy your permit and plan your trips.2 points

Playing around on the interactive map today planning some trips and discovered there is a new motel at St Adelme right behind the church and clubhouse. Brand new construction and the reservation link is taking winter bookings. Great to see a new option in the Gaspe as seem to be losing some of the old regular options. Will give another option to the Matane area and should be better snow conditions for early and late season lodging vs the shoreline in Matane. Reasonable rates also at $130.00 a night CAD. Does anyone know if the clubhouse is open 7 days a week and how late in the evening. Have stopped in there to eat but usually for lunch. https://www.motel-marquis.com/ The accommodation icon is on the map.1 point

Saw this last year at Le Pub next to Hotel Du Domaine , Boise du Domaine in Thetford Mines. Men Women and children all in one big room. Stalls and urinals. No door going into the "room"... all one big happy family... Way to go trudeau. Just read that gender reveal party's are bad because the thing that is birthed hasn't yet had a chance to decide upon it's own gender identity .... WTF is this world coming to?? What happened to follow the science?1 point

Covid is still around now and is expected to be more so in Ontario as the cold weather comes along. Personally I don't think travel restrictions within North America will be an issue this winter. JMHO1 point -

The strains continue to weaken but I’m afraid that may not stop them from putting controls on. It’s not about anything health related for them. 😞1 point

Any advice on a decent place to stay in the Saint Donat area? Looking for something comparable to la Cabanon, but in this area for a family trip with the kids. Not looking to break the bank, but not a dump either. A pool would be great for the kids. Looking to go mid February. Cpl days riding, hit the ice festival in Saint-Come and maybe a day of skiing to mix it up for the kids.1 point

23/24 season trail pass
lindasledgirl reacted to smclelan for a topic
It is getting expensive but snowmobile has never been a money making sport. Living in Nova Scotia you can not depend on decent local sledding. I plan at least 3 trips a year in Quebec and pretty much guaranteed good snow conditions every time. That fact alone makes it worth the permit price for me. Luckily for me it is only a 4hr trailer to start in the Gaspesie.1 point -

It would work better if Ontario currency was worth 35 cents on the dollar more than Quebec currency. LOL1 point -
Depends on your situation. If you live there and ride all winter, it's a no brainer. We're getting up to $1400 in permits to ride Ontario and Quebec now though for 2 sleds. That's not pocket change. Can I get enough trips in to justify $900 in permits becomes the question.1 point

Ski Disc
PLAYHARD reacted to PISTON LAKE CRUISER for a topic
No review but looking at the "codes & prices" section of the website leaves questions. Minimal explanation of how to determine which disc you need for your sled / ski model which leaves room for error in determining where centre of hole is and it appears that there is no kit available but that you have to order the individual parts you require.1 point -
Is the Advex a replacement for the Oxygen helmet? Or will be see an Oxygen 2.0 with comm's built in coming out next? Just curious if anyone has any intel on what yo expect.1 point

Advex vs Oxygen
lindasledgirl reacted to markusvt for a topic
Not like anything BRP has currently, (more like a CKX Mission). https://www.ski-doo.com/us/en/accessories-gear/advex-helmet.html?fbclid=IwAR0NYC4BG6l2antKwUOmY9RaYorhkZCR8GndwUeXal-ld1zDH2VYikTR1HU1 point -
Yeah seems like its out of line price wise. Then again I thought close to $30,000 for a mach z was nuts too. But they sold. So who knows. Maybe they will sell out all winter long. It is a little more than a modular helmet with built in comm's. There is features on this you can only get on this helmet or an Oxygen (sound muffs, huge open shield, elinq, built in neck curtain, etc.). After owning an Oxygen I tried a mission helmet on. Nice helmet, but man did I not like having a breath box on my face. The openness of the Oxygen brings has been a game changer. And its extremely warm with no drafts.1 point

So a Modular helmet with built in communicator?1 point

Yeah its addressing some of the complaints with the Oxygen. Mainly condensation issues. Adding the built in comm's is a good idea. I like the idea of the comms running off the helmet cord. No more dead batteries. If you are on batteries they are built into the back of the helmet out of the elements which is also smart. From what I've heard pricing for the full setup is getting out of hand though. Not sure I'd want to give up the Oxygen full face designs warmth risking going back to a modular setup though. Haven't found a modular helmet yet that wasn't drafty.1 point

I hadn't noticed this helmet earlier Watched the video and seems similar in some ways to the O2 Will like to see what others may know as well https://www.google.com/search?q=brp+advex&oq=brp+advex&aqs=chrome..69i57.353817194j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:10dcbd59,vid:Et0_EVBO7rc1 point

August 23, 2023 Subject: Renovations to sanitary blocks Dear parents. As you can see, major renovations are underway at D'Iberville school. The sanitary blocks on all three floors will be completely redone. Today, we'd like to inform you of the new features associated with these renovations. Like many other schools in Quebec, our washrooms will become co-ed (school year 2024- 2025). On each floor, what used to be the girls' and boys' toilet blocks will become a single mixed-use toilet block. These mixed sanitary blocks will feature fully enclosed cubicles. In addition, a window will be installed to ensure smooth operation. From the start of the school year, half of each sanitary block will be available. Temporary cabins (5 to 7 per floor) will be installed, and work will be underway on the other half. When the closed half is ready and renovated, the contractor will open this part and students will have access to this part of the new sanitary block, while the other part is being renovated. During the construction period, the blocks will be single-sex. Girls will be able to use the toilets on the [° and 3° floors, and boys will be able to use the toilets on the 2° floor. When the work is completely finished, there will be a separation in the center of the washroom blocks, so that we can end the year with gendered washrooms and start with new habits for the 2024-2025 school year, i.e. coeducational washrooms. What's more, all construction areas will be secure and will not interfere with your child's education. The work will be underway at the start of the school year and will be completed during the school year. We realize that this will mean big changes for all of you, but we're confident that it's for the best. You can also rest assured that we'll do our utmost to ensure a smooth and pleasant transition for our students. We look forward to answering any questions you may have. Actual letter sent to parents from a school board here in Quebec Richelieu, August 30, 2023 Obiet: Group 311 and 322 Dear parents, This message is addressed to all parents of students in the 5th grade 311 group and the 6th grade 322 group. The 311 group teacher is Mrs. Jessica Paré and the 322 group teacher is Mrs. Cristina Giguère. These two teachers have been given one day off per cycle, so that on these days, the students will be taught by Mx Martine Laviolette. Mx is pronounced "Mix" and is the gender-neutral equivalent of "madame" and "monsieur", and is used to designate non-binary people (whose gender identity lies outside the male/female binary system) and people who simply prefer not to be addressed by their gender. It has been used for several years in many countries, and is recognized by the Canadian government. On back-to-school day, I'll explain to your child that Mx will be the preferred title when addressing Mx Martine. We'll have a discussion about openness, differences, gender designations and so on. Mx Martine invites us to use the feminine to talk about her (the non-gendered pronoun "iel" is sometimes difficult to use because of the constraints of the French language). It will be her pleasure to guide us through this learning process in a respectful and inclusive way. For those of you who would like to learn more about inclusive writing, I'd like to share this link with you. You'll find the information officially recognized in Canada. Inclusive writing: communications about non-binary people - Keys to writing - Writing tools - Resources from the Linquistic Portal of Canada - Canada.ca (ourlanguages-ourlanguages.gc.ca) Don't hesitate to open a dialogue with your child when he or she returns home. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. Happy back-to-school! Christine Derome Director0 points
