  1. Quebec Snowmobile Trail Maps https://sites.google.com/site/scdiscdi/cartesgps/sentiersmotoneige Snowmobile Trails Map 2023 v15.1 This map is offered to you free of charge, it is available on PC, Mac, Android platforms, and is compatible with Garmin GPS. Here are the links where you can get the different versions of the map. The PC version https://1drv.ms/u/s!AlrtCHHWCApwhBUS5_a5yKqd3EtF This version is composed of 2 cards. A low detailed background map of Quebec and another transparent containing only trails and points of interest. It gives you the possibility of superimposing it on another card of your choice. The Mac version https://1drv.ms/u/s!AlrtCHHWCApwhBb5nQkuV5FTT9Hz Its name suggests, it is designed for Mac computer users. This is the same map as the PC version. Its installation method is different. We dropped the use of Javawa to make it available to all Mac versions. You will find all the information necessary for its installation in the .PDF file that comes with the card. The Nuvi/Zumo version https://1drv.ms/u/s!AlrtCHHWCApwhBd28bCVtAOI4JiD Unlike the Mac and PC versions, this one is made up of a single card which is not transparent for display reasons, because this type of GPS does not support not very good "autorouting" with transparent maps when using the route function. Android version https://1drv.ms/u/s!AlrtCHHWCApwhB9uKo7oF2zOZQ0Z This version installs on an Android tablet or phone. It requires the use of the OruxMaps or Locus Map application.

    Ever see this?

Haven't been to Quebec since before the Plandemonium. Been hoping to organize some long weekend hops 2up with the ladies jumping off from Jackman but it hasn't materialized yet. This video has a weird section where the skidooers seemingly terrorize the townsfolk but it is quite entertaining. Gotta be playing in a Skidoo museum somewhere.

    Funny Stuff

Admission to The Pearly Gates The first applicant of the day explains that his last day was not a good one. "I came home early and found my wife lying naked in bed. She claimed she had just got out of the shower. Well, her hair was dry and I checked the shower and it was completely dry too. I knew she was into some hanky-panky and I began to look for her lover. I went onto the balcony of our 9th-floor apartment and found the guy clinging to the rail by his fingertips. I was so angry that I began bashing his fingers with a flower pot. He let go and fell, but his fall was broken by some awnings and bushes. On seeing he was still alive I found super human strength to drag our antique cedar chest to the balcony and throw it over. It hit the man and killed him. At this point the stress got to me and I suffered a massive heart attack and died.” Saint Peter thanked him for his story and sent him on to the waiting room. The second applicant said that his last day was his worst. "I was on the roof of an apartment building working on the AC equipment and I stumbled over my tools and toppled off the building. I managed to grab onto the balcony rail of a 9th-floor apartment but some idiot came rushing out on the balcony and bashed my hands with a flower pot. I fell but hit some awnings and bushes and survived, but as I looked up I saw a huge chest falling toward me. I tried to crawl out of the way but failed and was hit and killed by the chest.” Saint Peter couldn't help but chuckle as he directs the man to the waiting room. Saint Peter is still chuckling when his third customer of the day enters. He apologizes and says "I doubt that your last day was as interesting as the two fellows that arrived here just before you.” “I don't know," replies the man. "Picture this, I'm naked, hiding in this cedar chest...”

    Birthday Ride

To celebrate my ridding buddy Mikes 72nd birthday we decided to got for a short trip this week. Left Vermont Monday morning and headed for our drop point , Pont Rouge. Got there about noon, unloaded and headed for the Delta. 3 trail was flat and fast to junction of 73. 73 fresh groomed to junction of 23 and we followed the groomer north on 23 to about 15 miles before the first warmup shack. Passed him and 23 showed us the weekend traffic for the next 15 miles. This warmup shack must be a big destination on sunday for the locals, from there north was much better. Quick bite to eat and gas at Le Etape and back on the trail. 23 north was choppy from the weekend, but not to bad. Mt Apica was closed when we went by, may be a Monday thing? Hit the 83 east and it was very good to the Delta. Arrived at 7:00, 210 miles, good first day. This morning we decided to head down the 83 to 383 and to Lanse St Jean. The first mile out of town is pretty thin, but still worth the ride. Trail was very good first 20 miles, then we picked up fresh groomed all the way to St Felix. 383 to gas stop at Lanse St Jean then 301, that was fresh groomed Monday night. Got to 83 and they had about 10 inches of fresh snow from Sunday night. Smooth under the fresh powder so nice trail, they have so much snow on the Clairmont Express you could probably ride until May up here. Left turn on to the 383 and fresh groomed all the way to Ferland for gas stop. Headed out to find fresh groomed again all the way to 368. Have not been through here for a few years and some changes have been done. Lots of logging has widened the trail out and its very nice. The old Bouliare Relay is gone. Not a trace of a building left, hate to see the old places go, but time marches on. Hit Bills trail {368} and fresh groomed out to the 23. Warm up shack at the intersection had burned down early in the season, hope they rebuild in the off season. Up the 23 to 83 and a stop at the Green Frog for a quick beverage. Out on the lake and back to the hotel. 83 east is getting thin in the logged out areas so it wont be long till the end here. Back around 5:00 with 260 miles in the meter. GREAT DAY. Up early this morning. Breakfast at 6:30 and on the trail and headed back to the truck by 7:30. Nice surprise this morning, 83 fresh groomed last night all the way to Lake Kanigami. Blue sky and temp about 15f, makes this trail a quick ride to the lake. Lake is smooth and its a quick ride across. Surprise, fresh groomed last nite to the 23. Headed south to Mt Apica for gas and go, trail good as not much traffic mid week. Fresh groomed to Le Etape. This is one of my favorite trails, Smooth and straight and only saw one sled all morning. From the Le Etape intersection to the first warm up shack was a little bumpy, but it always seems this way. From there it back to St Ray was very good and was fresh groomed from St Ray to Pont Rouge. Back at the truck at 1:00 with 205 miles. What a great last day and season ender. We talked about staying another day, but at our advanced age we both had to be back Thursday for doctor appointments. Glad we can still do it, but this getting old stuff is sometimes getting in the way of ridding. Hope you all have a good summer. Steve

Gemma & Jim! HUGE MERCI! Everyone's QR ride reports are awesome & appreciated! Still, yours always have that extraordinary Goldilocks "juuussst right" element! Way to go on capturing & sharing the conditions on: trails & weather, lodging & restos, 2 & 4 legger critters, smooth & rough sailing, even reporting on the (sometimes) elusive radar golfball! It's truly about as close as one can get to riding along! Speaking of which, hats off to you two and the bond you share from all of that riding along together! A funny thought on your plentiful pics along the way, a non-QR might scroll thru your report and say "Those all look the same, big deal, trees on both sides & snow up the middle", but we're all fortunate to know better! Thanks again! Bon journay!

  18. Don't wanna hijack here, but... BIG merci! Yeah, prosthesis polymers keep getting better! Hip was done beck in '88 (35yrs?!) back when non-cemented was new! So 3rd revision was the charm! Still gotta get the shoulders done once the knee is spiffy. Rotator cuffs are fine, so I could ROCK a wheelchair, just not at this time! And getting back to the topic: We once saw 2 guys wobbling out of Cabane Chez Hill with their arms locked, carring a 3rd guy out between them like a king, and they slung the 3rd guy onto his sled! Thought they were just feeling their beers & treating the dude for his birthday or something. But as they peeled off, we saw a wheelchair hooked on to the back of his sled! Grandé inspiration! And speaking of birthdays!... ¡Feliz Cumpleaños! Happy 60th Poltodoo! Rock n Roll class of '63!

  19. I've got the same question, but about the world in general?... Anyone?... Crud. Good time to keep the faith, in the world in general, not easy for sure. We know who Jacques & Co. are deep down, so cheers to hoping he & the crew pull thru & stick with being themselves.

  20. Kelly and I made a second trip to the Gaspe after getting frozen out a couple weeks back. We clicked off 690 miles around the Gaspesie on fresh groomed trail for all but about 25 miles. It is like catching the Holy Grail if you can make to loop all the way on freshly groomed trails. Started from Pointe a la Croix as usually, fresh groomed right out the door to past the cable bridge where Snowmaster 2112 caught up to us with his group. We chatted on the side of the trail then continued to the Albertville gas for breakfast. Met Snowmaster and his crew there again, but there were heading out to beat a storm on there way home.....we all know how that ended. Thankfully no serious injuries. Kelly and I pulled out and took the local trail right before Lac Matepedia to St Adeleme for a break, lots of people there. We then headed to Grande Nature, perfect trails till we got about 15mi before the turnoff above Cap Chat. Good into Grande Nature. We had called about a week before and all that was left was a Scandinavian cabin. Have never stayed in one of those before, always up in the main building the cabins are awesome. The food there was incredible and the atmosphere is great. Left the next morning and had about another five or eight miles of rough stuff until we got to the Saint anne Des Monts turn off from there freshly groomed again right across the whole North Shore. Road through to the town of Gaspe and stayed the night at the Hotel Plante. We went to supper with Northbound and Sandra it was a great evening. The next day we headed out again on freshly groomed trails all the way into Perce where Kelly wanted to get the iconic picture in front of the Rock, every snowmobiler has to do this at least once. In and out of there still on fresh groom trails we went through Chandler and got gas and stopped for lunch at the Chandler clubhouse, very busy there they were having drag races. Pulled out after lunch and sailed into New Richmond that evening, stayed at the Fin Gourmet. Next morning again out on freshly groomed trails and road back to the truck in Pointe-à-la-Croix. Been riding in Quebec for 22 years and have never run so much freshly groomed trail before, the gods of grooming were smiling at us. Here is a few pics from our excellent adventure.

  23. In the past Jack was awesome. He was a great guy and we had a great time at Hotel Copper. Rooms were relatively clean, dated, simple and I always felt it was like staying at a rooming house. But definitely a fun place to come out of the snow. Sadly, I had a similar experience this week. He was short and irritated. Asked me if I knew what was happening in Quebec! ?? You have to take the package $169 each. Salmon or chicken croquet. I said we would rather just pay the room and order from the menu. He said there is no menu. 😞 The table of 4 guys beside us asked if they could start with a salad, they would be happy to pay. Well it was the same salad as on the plate. Lettuce and dressing. We ate, they basically shut the lights off and you feel like it’s time to go. I think it was jacks wife and daughter working. Last year our room had no hot water ( top of stairs king bed) and we were in a hurry so I brushed my teeth and sucked it up. This year, same room and no hot water. He was mad at me that I asked for a different room. We were speaking with others on the trail they said same thing. They complained and he said wait…45 minutes no hot water. Just a sad atmosphere. I would love to help support them but two years now. I am going to look for options. it would help if he wasn’t chain smoking in his office. 😞 Would love to hear suggestions. lindasledgirl

    Alma-Lake Saint-Jean

We just rode from la tuque back to the Delta today. The 355 was great except for the few km that was plowed..very bad. Once we got to the lake, the 83 was bad, especially around Chambord. Towards Jonquiere snow picked up, nice in the bush. Around town, not nice. My guess is that Alma will be thin. Good luck...Jeff and Sandy

  25. Wow. That's hard to hear, because brothers Jacques & Bernard have always been first class with us. I had a track fail just a few miles out. (Thanks again NH Moose for spotting it before it was too late!) And Jaques was just about to give us the shirt off his back. Offered us his truck and/or sled. Anything we needed so our trip wouldn't be spoiled. Sure the decor isn't "modern". But the hotel & resto hospitality was always genuine. I sure hope things get better for those guys.

Thank you for sharing your highs and lows. I had some giggles the day you got stuck several times! Not everyone admits when things go in the wrong direction (I have never got stuck LOL). Great pictures, you truly give amazing ride reports. You two are excellent snowmobilers to travel the big miles you do and to do it alone. Have a great summer.

We took a ride to get my bag. It was where I left it. The scenery along the way was super. A nice 92 mile ride. We pulled over to take a few pictures of the ice in water. I noticed the snow covered mountains (Chic Chocs) in the background. Well that’s a wrap for us. It’s back to work for us. Have a great summer everyone.

We make our way to the hotel. We notice that the trail has changed around town as well. Another great day on the trail.

We make our way over to the bridge at Matapedia. There’s no snow at all on it. We stop at Ultramar and top off. The trail is a bit different from our last time through. We take 587 to 5 and make our way to the cable bridge. There’s quite a few people there. I’m taking a picture and we’re being waved over. We pull over and find it’s the group from L’Empress last night. One of the guys is a volunteer for the PLC club. We thank him and the club for the nice trail conditions we just had.

There’s plenty of windmills on this trail. When we pass St Alexis we can see the logging staging area. There’s a lot of wood piles. We ride though some muddy road.

  39. Stayed here on Saturday night ,2nd and last stay at this Hotel .Restaurant is basically closed unless you go with package which only gave 2 choices and nothing we wanted so we said we’d eat at old church which is a great place to eat .Guy at front counter at Hotel when we checked in was owner and very rude and got worse when we decided not to get full package and then they don’t even offer breakfast. He said he has no staff and I see why if he’s like this with customers,I can only imagine what he is like to work for .The old church had at least 10 on staff that night and it was packed .I don’t think he is handling the new competition in town very well .Maybe he should of sold out as he had a monopoly in the town for decades.I hope ours had better experience. My wife was quite upset with how we were treated And the Hotel Copper will not be recommended by us .
