iceman
Somewhat snowmobile related. However, if you are easily offended please do not read this thread. I am saying this with Peace and Love, Peace and Love. Let’s just face it, this ship is cursed. https://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/1739755/fagauthier-stq-derive-trois-rivieres-traversier-matane?fbclid=IwAR3tOSa9TfCwWXZOsS9Fx6Tv8-2xGlDHhWPz0TkIT2kFsxl8jwRvmcMzabI A new incident affects the F.-A.-Gauthier ferry, which is in Trois-Rivières to undergo repairs as part of its mandatory technical stop. During an operation to move the ship, Thursday at noon, one of the ferry's moorings broke and the boat drifted away. The spokesperson for the Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ), Alexandre Lavoie, explains that the engines of the ship that normally crosses between Matane and the North Shore were not working and that the ferry was already under towing, under the supervision of a Saint-Laurent pilot. The two tugs on site were able to quickly pull the vessel out of this predicament and bring it back to the dock. However, this short ride might not be without consequences, as the ship scraped the rocky bottom. Divers were dispatched to assess the damage. The ship left Matane at the end of September for this annual maintenance. The Société des traversiers du Québec particularly wanted to take advantage of this shutdown to restart the liquefied natural gas system, which has been out of service since the ship was put back into service in January. dooright, smclelan, Pipeman and 3 others 1 2
Signfan
At this point have to question whether boarding the ship is a safe thing to do. Absolutely ridiculous all the mishaps and trouble they've had with it.
smclelan
The Quebec Gov't will likely have a multi million dollar inquiry about the whole construction, quality control, purchase process.......and still be left with a lemon! groomer
The Saaremaa ferry struck the Godbout quay during its docking around 10 a.m. Friday morning. This new tile, which adds to the saga of the Matane-Côte-Nord ferry, is interrupting service until further notice. According to the Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ), no one was injured and all customers were able to disembark the ship safely. The cause of the event remains unknown at this time. This is not the first incident involving the Saaremaa and the Quai de Godbout. In September 2019, the ship, which currently replaces the F.-A. Gauthier during his technical stop, had hit the landing stage of the quay.

Shore1066
This had to happen in a port and it makes me wonder how to hell why two ships were in the port at the same time. And this happened with no ice in the port. Amazing. Lol

iceman
Once again..... https://www.tvanouvelles.ca/2020/11/20/le-f-a-gauthier-en-reparation-pour-une-periode-indeterminee?fbclid=IwAR3ZLVo6Dt5W-raW9e9jwdC9Y0VjYvg53JvLc-28BuBM3Lrysc3Xzsj8Ckw The F.-A.-Gauthier in repair for an indefinite period? The F.-A.-Gauthier ferry, which links Matane and the North Shore, is said to be out of service again for an indefinite period due to a serious mechanical breakdown. The Société des traversiers du Québec posted on Twitter that an oil leak explains the cancellation of Friday crossings. According to several sources, this oil leak would come from the thrusters. “The repair time is not yet known, we are investigating the cause”, we can read on the Traverse de Matane page. For the moment, impossible to know the extent of the damage. However, we know that the ship NM Saaremaa will leave the port of Trois-Rivières on Saturday morning for Matane. Remember that the MV Saaremaa was urgently purchased by the STQ in 2019 to become the official relief vessel for F.-A.-Gauthier. As of 3 p.m. Friday, the Ferry Company still had not taken stock of the situation.

smclelan
Hopefully they can come to some sort of agreement to open that section of Trail. A huge loss all the way around if it does not get opened. It is closed just east of the big bridge that is not that old.
