Finished, you got the last of the grooming there. Hello snowmobilers Unfortunately, in order to respect the landowners and ensure that we retain our fragile rights of way, we are obliged to close our trail for the stage. It is currently being surfaced for the last time. The North Range fence will be closed tomorrow morning. We're aware that there's still a lot of snow up there. But we won't be able to access it with our machinery. We've done our utmost to please you. We hope to see you all next year.4 points

Packed an overnight bag and hit the freshly groomed trails, headed east to Baie Comeau. First 60 km to bridge was perfect, crossed bridge then good with the exception of 1 km that had been ploughed. Rode local, scenic trails around Baie Comeau then checked in Le Manoir for the evening had another great meal at the in house restaurant. One of the day’s Highlight was the suspension bridge. Heading back to the truck & trailer for our long journey home. Thanks to all the groomer drivers and volunteers for making all the trials in Quebec the best in the world! Hope you enjoyed our voyage, thanks for following along…. We keep doing it because we personally enjoy reading about other riders adventures.3 points -
New Drop Bracket Fab. I hoped the left and right bracket were identical, nope... I hoped the Air Ride mounts would still be mounted to the chassis, nope... http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/rr-rear-mount-1.thumb.JPG.2efd63ca6553e3e7178027948bb663f4.JPG Used 1/8th inch aluminum sheet to make the two templates that could encompass the AirRide Mounts and levers. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/rr-rear-mount-3.thumb.JPG.3ffdb327bf6f73bd5e045cbe2f2ee50a.JPG 10 test fittings later.... http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/rr-rear-mount-2.thumb.JPG.ba83cbaf4e8bae9e8df315a8bb6ed94d.JPG Gave it smoother\rounded shapes to reduce the chance of stress cracks, like why airplane windows have rounded corners. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/rr-rear-mount-4.thumb.JPG.98755283b7949bc892d16d1324a99094.JPG Transferred the templates to thicker aluminum.... http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/rr-rear-mount-6.thumb.JPG.174438734846584123a1c50e39a07dca.JPG Pressed in some steel bushings to reinforce the wear points for the cross shaft http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/rr-rear-mount-5.thumb.JPG.4c34ac3fa0698a1b3f83920981f08393.JPG Now I wait for some barrel nuts, these will support the two sheets ( tunnel and bracket ) similar to a self piercing rivet and the bolt compresses the sheets together. With luck this will minimize movement and greatly increase shear strength and rigidity. Later GutZ3 points

We did 1,800 km Cote Nord trip starting in Les Escoumins out to Sept-iles at the end of February. Spend 2 nights at the Econolodge in Forestville. Allows us to spend a day riding all the orange trail loops north of Forestville. Beautiful scenic ride, felt like parts of the Gaspe without the water. The warming hut up there is the nicest one we ever came across.. The day we spend there trails we’re perfect, not a single bump. We also rode the big loop orange trails north of Baie Comeau. This is also a beautiful scenic ride. The 2 loops north of Forestville and Baie Comeau were the best parts of the trip.2 points

Doesn't that area normally stop grooming by mid to late March to run the maple sugar lines across the trail? Especially with the warmer weather this year. You had to be very careful to get under them on a sled. Some spots also had the lines go under a ramp depending on the terrain, but I didn't think they were groomer rated.1 point

Next up was a bit if grinding, sanding and prep. I found a paint that was recommend as better than the Auto Parts Store Stuff and went to town. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/rr-Pipe-1.thumb.JPG.02d13466303eceffde0ca6ea19aeaa99.JPG http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/rr-Pipe-2.thumb.JPG.57f0bf83ad69ebbe8eace49674ba061a.JPG http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/rr-pipe-4.thumb.JPG.2d27838ae125f33385aae13155c01330.JPG Packaged it back up in the shields and reattached it to the engine. I feel it was disrupting the pipe harmonics so much that it just would not pull the higher RPMs.... We will see! Now while the chassis has been awaiting a revised motor we discovered that the Rear M-20\Air Ride suspension would not collapse completely, even with no Air in .... What??? This has never happened to me before... LOL. Anyway after loosening and tightening the track more times than I care to count, I was able to determine that the larger 1.5 Lug and 8 inch rear wheel kit were bottoming out on the Top of the tunnel before allowing the suspension to completely compress. Odd since the custom tunnel has a kick up in the rear..... Soooooo... New Drop Brackets... GutZ1 point

BLAST FROM THE PAST!!!!! Well, if no one noticed, this Winter Sucked.... We were able to ride with our good friends but not nearly as much we would have liked ( smiles per miles! ). So with no real damage or changes needed and an early start to the Off Season, I have some time extra time to bring this back from the dead! After working on in the 670+ Engine I could not figure out why it would not REV past 6500 under load..... Engine was out then in, then out, checked case seal, etc.... ( Remember even with NOS it would not REV, and the NOS made it worse ). So I pulled the y-pipe one more time, to look in the cylinders\Exhaust and see if any thing looked a-miss.... Nope.... Even flipping the shocks upside down made it no better. ( Dealership recommended it, they do it on all their New Sled Setups ) Then I disassemble the shielding on the Y-Pipe and found that there was a huge cross shaped crack right at the Y. Like any good idiot would do, I went and bought a welder, watched a YouTube or Two, then proceeded to burn a few holes in my riding lawnmower deck, in the end creating the worst weld seen by man. I did successfully weld the metal together and the lawnmower is ready for the grass... Coming off the high of melting metal together I grabbed the Y-Pipe and made the second worst weld know to man....http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/rr-Pipe-3.thumb.JPG.c1c51954a6b9b0dc61bd0c5fb9e4862b.JPG And burnt my thumb.... I'm here/there (sorry for not posting detail!), last week there were TONS more trailers @ Escoumins and trail traffic, this week very few of both, mostly locals, and they're grooming more than they're showing on iMoto, that plus the rock hard base could be good for a while if temps stay low!1 point

Very, very nice. A monster of a lift. We haven't been in that area in awhile but we may have to make a trip there next season to see the bridge. I'm hoping the Federation has some permanent rights to the approaches for the bridge. Everybody out there, respect the trails. Please. Jack & Sandi1 point

I am a little slow getting the ride report out of our Feb 27 trip. Our original plan was to trailer from Nova Scotia to Pointe a la Croix Feb 27, then snowmobile to Matane catching the 2pm boat Feb 28. However with mild weather and rain forecast on the 28th, we trailered directly to Matane the 27th. Feb 28 Got up from the Quality Inn and on the 8am boat to Baie Comeau. Off loaded, it was above 0 but still lo rain. We took the orange trail behind the ski hill going East. What an amazing scenic trail. It ends on the TQ3 at the warming shack between BC and Godbout. Stopped at the shack and put a fire on, it was a heavy mist at this point. No one was wet but we were in no rush either. From there we went to the Travelodge for the night in BC and supper at 3 Barils, Great food. Feb 29 Flash freeze overnight, what a jack pot! Handle bars controls all frozen solid! Took off scratcher down. Groomers were out in a few sections to help break up the hard crust. Good trails all the way to Sacre Couer and stay at the Coronet. Mar 1 Out from the Coronet and up the TQ93, it was the best I have ever seen it right to where you meet the first orange trail. From there to the Chappel was good but not as good as the 93. Lunch and off, backtracked on the TQ93 to the orange trail and turned east. One short plowed section by Domaine L or paste but great running to were the 330 meets the TQ3 above portneuf sur mer. Right where the 330 ends we did a quick off trail to the other piece of the TQ3 avoiding running to the coast. Into the Econolodge in Forestville for the night. Mar 2 Original plan scrapped over drinks the night before, no ride to Sept Iles. Boys wanted to go back to Mt Valin. Back we go the way we came back to to a little more riding on the mountain. Late lunch at the Chappel then most of the way back the 93 to the Debut of the 330. Traveled east on it, another great trail. Stayed the second night in Forestville. Mar 3 Sunny warm day, took our riding back to Baie Comeau for the afternoon ferry. We were starting to see some patches starting to bare up. It was easy to tell the end was near. Loaded on the 5:00pm boat and back to Matane and the truck. A few pictures to share. http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/pro-HGnsSJNa.thumb.jpeg.eeaf7e98597fad013548a2716a4f412b.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/pro-8Lj004g9.thumb.jpeg.bb93e473115bcf665292c6c3e3fb50f7.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/pro-PUNrRBgs.thumb.jpeg.492cb75c76202fd788253c7d812047dc.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/pro-am64lTui.thumb.jpeg.0686c4fdbad58f721adcb860d950e046.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/pro-P5OxEgEg.thumb.jpeg.1a055f1007c844814ec4d53e7e0cb0aa.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/pro-QB6mQwDG.thumb.jpeg.6548b33999eb626504f261536f953455.jpeg http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2024_03/pro-8Y4kjjSp.thumb.jpeg.de324d632b2f8c10b6d5f3fd8cbaefb1.jpeg1 point

*** Update *** With the snow last week we were able to take it out and check the performance and see if we needed to tweak anything. It ran great!! But we only had about a 1/4 mile of field to test it in and 1/2 of it was up hill. Need more room. Smooth in the woods, vicious when you smack the throttle. NOS seems to work too!! LongHair was upset there was no blue flame like in the movies. This is my general feeling when we pull it out to give a ride: Hang on for a full test in a few weeks. GutZ1 point

Update: Well last year was disappointing, the sled would not rev (I believe it was the Voltage Regulator ), The NOS would pull hard to Mid-Range and done, a bit of Knock too. It started leaking oil out of the waterpump weep hole, I thought. Spark Plug tore out of the head, needing a new head to be chambered, flattened and milled. The engine cases\cylinders threads on several holes are starting to strip. (94 Mach 1 Motor, 25 years old +/-) So... the VR was upgraded to a Mosfet design, I hope that will solve the Revs. The leak turned out to be the seal for the cases, I think the NOS and Knock caused the lower case seal to blow out, also upgraded to better pistons and cleaned and re-tapped holes. Once the engine was in the chassis and started it was pouring coolant out of a head bolt, it tore the threads and there was not enough depth to increase the threads. I was going to helicoil it, but instead went with using a 10mm bolt since it was the same bore as the heliCoil. We are back in business!! So far..... Tidey up some electical stuff and maybe a little testing at the farm. Untill the next "Earth Shattering Kaboom"..... GutZ1 point
