  1. Mike, looks like you guys found some good going too today, as we mentioned at breakfast, we went east towards Rimouski and down to St Gabriel de Rimouski for a great lunch at the Restaurant de table Le Maman. I would definitely stop here again for lunch. We to were pleased with the conditions. Yesterday when we were out the snow was loose and pliable, last night the base set up nicely and we had very similiar riding conditions as Mike described, and on top of that a Blue sky day! One definitely will not be disappointed with the riding in this region now. We talked with a gentlemen in Rimouski who said that this good snow had just come with that storm and the riding was not that good prior. Tomorrow we head east to meet some friends riding up from Lac Etchemin. We will connect for lunch at St Pamphile with them and ride back to RDL for the night. Here are some pics that resemble Mikes, just great conditions for sure RR

  2. First day of riding for the new season. I was a little worried if the conditions would be good enough. Well, from what we saw today, it was amazing, midwinter conditions in most areas we rode. Yesterday's afternoon flurries left about 2 to 5 inches in most areas. Trees are caked with snow. The groomers had been over about 95 percent of the trails we rode. Jack and Sandi, Jak, and I had a great day. Ate at Chevelliers Club House. We started out going west along the St. Lawrence. Not as much snow there, but enough that it was very good. From then on perfection. We next headed south to trail #5 and dropped down to 561 going south. We went down the lake, it used to be 35 and is now 561 this year. Lake was kinda slushy in spots. Got gas then lunch. Continued southeast on 35 to almost Cabanno and began working our way north weaving in and out of some of the loops off the rail bed. Sandi did an amazing job leading followed by her posse of misfits. FYI My ATM card would not work this year at the ATM inside the Universel. Desk clerk believe a new ATM card with a chip is now needed. Drove down to the bank and their's accepted my card.

  3. Traveled through the park on the 175 black trail on Monday, sadly not without incident. In the end, all is well. Conditions are optimum out of the Delta. Below are a few photos of my wife & daughter from the top of Mont Apica. Those on the fence, trying to consider whether or not to jump should make the trek.

Block temp said -14F when I hit the button this morning in Parent. We are having a nice breakfast in the Chalet and then we are going to smack down the white gold. Today is going to be a special day for me. Calculations show that very near the camp on M21 my (new this year) sled will turn 2112 miles. I am going to be pushing it today. While still having safety as the utmost priority I am going to be “hitting the wick” as hard as I physically can today. This run is for “Neil” and if I can “hit it” half as hard as he hit the drums....it will be EPIC !!!!!! its a “sea of purple” on the IMotoneige map my fellow trail shredders. GET OUT AND RIDE

  9. Safe to cross in St Etienne.TQ3 in Grand Mere is safe but just the part near 23, cannot go up river yet. All trails here are just seeing first passes with groomers. Some shows groomed but trust me, some places they have just passed with dozer no drag. To pack and fill. By end of week should be shaping up.

  11. Again great conditions, albeit it was warm @ 20F. We trekked to the cave & then over to KM31. Check out the size of the icicle laying at the base of the entrance to the cave. On the return, from KM31, for the first time, we dropped into the IMAGO Village for a quick look around & refreshment. Neat place

  14. I noticed this year if you use two fingers to pan it works better. Also the map stops following your position at times and have to select the round button bottom right to get back. Overall I love the app and use it mounted on my handlebar all day

  15. That’s just another day on the 175 when weather is bad. Happens all the time. Unfortunately usually much more lethal. That there, “big trucks, big bucks $$$$$$$”

  17. Mont Apica ....75 miles + - south of Saguenay, (Hotel Delta) directly off trail # 23. The Mont Apica Relais with fuel & food is only a minute south of the turn off for the tower. An easy 10 minute + - climb from the turn off to the tower.

  21. Terry. Can't believe you are thinking of wine instead of riding. You have to ride first to earn your wine! Can't imagine you haven't been out yet. And Tom. I am a little jealous, its in the single digits here tonight. Steven, we will drink, and drink some more.

I used earth pak 55L back pack last year strapped on a powder keg gas/storage combo. This year I bought the 70L duffel to strap on the powder keg. I can never have enough room.

  29. Arrived at the Mayor’s location about the same time as Mike, we chatted briefly and than we went out to do a trail conditions check and found acceptable to good riding conditions. As Mike said the new snow is 10/12” a loose and dry. Once the groomers get this packed and it has a chance to firm up it will be good going. We ran a quick 70 miles down the 85 to 565 to St Hubert, 544, back to local 44 and back to the hotel. As you all know, once you get south of the adventurers club house the conditions get much better with lots of base and new snow to work with. We met the groomers working the access trail into the hotel on the way in as Mike reported. That trail too is very rideable with adequate snow cover. We have come into RDL with conditions much worse before lol. Looking forward to seeing REVCT and Mike this week at the Mayors! Happy Trails RR

  30. Pulled into 100 Lacs last night at 730 pm came from M21 & M20 area. first tracks to 345 junction. Single lane down the middle all the way to Repos. Repos to Manawan good on the logging road sections.Manawan to Lunic was all good on the loggging roads but wooded sections 8-10 miles before there were TRASHED with hanging limbs and branches. Will take a lot of work to clear. Fresh groomed from Lunic into 100. Lacs. The 13 north of 100 Lacs this a.m. was rideable but very bumpy and needs a good grooming. In Parent now and we are heading back to the M21 camp tomorrow and 90% looks like it’s all been groomed.

  31. Yipper .... we drove into Mékoos from 100 Lacs late Friday afternoon in a very light freezing mist. We woke up to pouring rain Saturday morning, but it had quickly turned to wet snow by around 10:00 am. By the time we left Mékoos for the trucks at Ste-Anne Sunday morning, there was close to a foot of good snow on the ground and still falling. On the way home, it had thinned out a bit by Mont-Laurier, and diminished to about an inch of wet snow by the time I reached home in Mayo. Anyway, Ste-Anne-du-Lac to Fer-à-Cheval and on towards 100 Lacs then back Ste-Anne via Mékoos was all good .... 10/10 I'd say.

They have just finished cleaning the trail(downed trees, branches). lots of work had to be done thru out the territory and we have a huge territory to take care of. We got +- a foot of snow over the weekend. You can follow them on their facebook page. They are starting the grooming operations today. https://www.facebook.com/ClubMotoneigeOursBlancs/?epa=SEARCH_BOX

I should mention for me one of the keys is zippered packing cubes. Being a backpack makes the trudge from the sled 1 trip with everything. Being a "dry bag" as a boating oriented product eliminates the need for putting anything plastic bags. Also I have plenty of utility contingency stuff, even parts, packed on my sled just not with what comes in the lodging with me. These Overboard bags travel with us all over because they are great for the beach and places like Universal where you might need your crap dry due to weather or the log flume.

  35. We were pretty sure it was broken because of the pain and the blue color the joint had took within just a couple hours but the x-ray show ok for the bones so it is the joint itself that took the hit, we hope it will be a speedy recovery... We had to postpone the sled ride this weekend because of the weather, so she had a break as a photographer, instead she shovel! She's unable to stop...

  36. Anybody buying from the US know if you got charged the foreign transaction fee on their credit card? I switched to all cash for my trips to stop the 3% fee. I do two trips per winter, since I have the cash I can’t convince myself that the convince of using CC is worth 3% ($5000 in cash turns into $5150)

These bags are 38L to give you an idea of size. Bigger than l need for the sled but have for our Spyder adventures. The brand is Dryspec. Secret to make dry bags so useful and versatile is using ROK STRAPS to secure them. Use the 60"long x 1 " wide. You can cinch bags down super tight and will never move.
